Not sure where to begin? Don't just guess, or you'll waste time and money. Plus, you might even get the wrong parts.
Every Howo engine has a serial number, like an ID card. Understand this number, and you can buy the right parts. This'll save you time and cash.
l Wrong engine code, wrong order.
l Wrong parts, engine won't fit the truck; wasted time and cash.
l The engine serial number IDs your Howo engine. It tells you which series, model, and setup, so you get the right parts.
Take WD615, D12, WP10, and WP12 engines. People often mix up part numbers. One wrong digit and the radiator inlet might not install, or the water pump flange won't match. A serial number will dodges those issues. That's why good fleet managers have mechanics snap pics of the engine plate info before even asking for a quote and keep a record.
Usually, on the engine block, on a metal plate, or in the truck's paperwork.
l Engine block marking: Left or right side, near the cylinder head.
l Metal plate: Has engine series info such as WD615/D12/WP12.
l Paperwork: Check the vehicle ID card, customs info, or inspection reports.
I tell people to send me photos of the truck plate and the original stamp before asking for a quote. I can double-check for you. It'll save you weeks.
Example: WD615.47-123456
l WD615 → Engine series (6-cylinder, 15L displacement).
l .47 → Power rating (like 371 hp).
l 123456 → Serial number.
Another one: WP12.420E50-987654
l WP12 → Weichai Power 12L series.
l .420 → Horsepower.
l E50 → Emission standard.
l 987654 → Production number.
Get this down, and you won't mix up a WD615 radiator with a WP12 radiator.
The most common Howo engine models are WD615, D12, WP10, and WP12. Each has its own serial number rules.
| Engine Family | Typical Serial Example | Common Use Case |
| WD615 | WD615.47-XXXXXX | HOWO 371 dump trucks |
| D12 | D12.420-XXXXXX | HOWO T7H heavy-duty |
| WP10 | WP10.336-XXXXXX | Regional cargo & mixers |
| WP12 | WP12.420E50-XXXXXX | Long-haul tractors, Euro V spec |
